     a) The Bill of Rights and Amendments to the Constitution

     b) The American of the Rights and Duties of Man

     c) The Universal Declaration of Human Rights

3) recognize various philosophical viewpoints on human rights including

     a) natural law

     b) social contract

     c) reciprocity

     d) the rule of law

DEBATE

1) explore and choose an issue in debate that touches on human rights or is addressed in one of the documents studied

2) to learn to identify multiple sides of issue and to support and defend a position

3) learn to identify rhetorical devices and develop awareness of some of their uses and pitfalls in the public sphere

4) use their tools to write and speak effectively on an issue

5) learn how to debate successfully and to rebut an opposing argument
